We start from the village square in the direction of Neutralstraße. On the left we see an imposing bluestone house that originally belonged to the Bruynaire fiefdom. A little further on, you can see the rear façade of the old post office as well as some brick dwellings of the employees of the Prussian railway company. At the end of the street, turn sharp left at the "Fritz Braun" hotel and casino into Bahnhofstraße. Here, information boards explain interesting facts about the Prussian border railway station. After about 200 m, go down a few steps on the left. Keep left uphill to the "Alte Schule" (old school), the parish hall and the parish church "Maria Heimsuchung".
- The oldest property in the village was part of the Bruynaire fiefdom (mid-18th century). In 1747, Major Jean-François de Reul received this fief from the Duke of Limbourg in recognition of his merits and had an imposing bluestone stately home built until 1765. The house has been a listed building since 1994. At the same time, four farms were also built in the immediate vicinity, none of which still exist today.
- In the middle of the 19th century, the first border railway station in Europe was built. In 1887, this location became so important that the Royal Prussian State Railway planned and implemented a reconstruction. The railway traffic was closed in favour of Welkenraedt in 1965. The station building was demolished in 1982.
- Herbesthal Post Office: Herbesthal already had a post office in the Herren Hotel in 1852. In 1907 the new post office was built in Renaissance style. In 1920, the building was taken over by the Belgian administration. From 1920 to 1935, the post office was the second most important post office in Europe. During the Second World War, the postal service was discontinued. In 1945, the Belgian postal service took over operations again.
- Old school 16.11.1881 with only one classroom. A second classroom was added in 1892. The new school was inaugurated in 1939
- The construction of the parish hall was decided in 1888 and consisted of 2 service residences, administrative rooms for the mayor and serving police officer as well as 5 cells.
- The parish church "Marie Heimsuchung" was consecrated in 1901 and elevated from chapel to parish in 1912. In the same year, a Protestant prayer hall was inaugurated (Neutralstraße next to the Schreiber bakery).
