We begin our tour in the marketplace at Eupen. The green towers of the St. Nikolaus Chapel rise up high above the town and show us the way. On the Langesthal bridge in Bellmerin, we watch the Weser for a while before walking towards Hasenell along the Osthertogenwald. Soon, we come to a former railway line. We hear that museum trains are to run here in the future. Our route takes us towards Raeren, over meadows and fields, and all of a sudden the Knoppenburg, a 16th-century farm, appears ahead of us. It's at the end of a magnificent avenue of chestnut trees and very close to seven small ponds. In Raeren we pay a visit to Raeren Castle, a 14th-century complex in which there is a pottery museum today. In Eynatten our tour comes to an end and we stop off for a coffee in the local bakery.
Author’s recommendation
A visit to Raeren Castle is certainly recommended. Internationally renowned ceramics are exhibited in the pottery museum there.
