The starting point is at the Marktplatz (market square) in Bütgenbach, where you take the Seestraße to the Ravel cycle path, on which you ride for a short while. Then, you reach the first trail passage leading into the “Plättscheid” woods and follow the meandering river Warche. The route subsequently takes you up to the “Maria im Felde” (statue of the Virgin Mary) and through a wide meadow valley until you find the tunnel trail that will lead you to the “Bütgenbacher Heck” forest. After this exciting trail section, you roll downhill to the village Möderscheid and, after a short climb, enjoy the trail descent to the Möderscheider Mühle. Next, a hollow way guides you to the village Schoppen and yet again to the “Bütgenbacher Heck”. Back in Bütgenbach, you take a loop to “Am großen Feld” (at the large field) and the Warche valley, before heading back to the market square.
Author’s recommendation
In the village centre, several cafés and terraces invite you to round off your tour in a pleasant atmosphere.
Those who want to extend the tour can easily combine it with the tour „Über den schwarzen Hügel“.
If in search for a more difficult route, we recommend the MTB tracks in Montenau and Schönberg.
