The route starts at the former railway station in Montenau, where the tourist information centre is located nowadays. The first few metres of the “Wolfsbuschrunde” take you slightly uphill along the Ravel cycle path until you reach the Wolfsbusch, which gives the route its name. At the southern tip of this wooded ridge, you plunge deeper and deeper into the forest. Numerous epic trail passages await you, sometimes on soft forest ground, sometimes on bumpy forest paths. With constant ups and downs, the trails finally lead you to the riverbed of the Amel. From there, you ride straight back uphill along forest tracks and rooty trails. A hollow path takes you to Thirimont and Ondenval. Here you will discover a few more trails in and around the Rohrbusch. After crossing the Ravel, you descend to the fish breeding ponds and back into the Wolfsbusch. Finally, you climb all the way up to the rock "An der Ley" to enjoy the descent down to Montenau as the grand finale.
Author’s recommendation
A visit to the local ham smoke house Montenauer is definitely worthwhile. Upon entering the building, you are greeted by the savoury aroma of smoked ham.
If you want to extend this tour, you can easily combine it with the tour “Sankt Vith Runde”.
