Over a distance of three kilometres, the planetary trail in Sankt Vith is designed to give the visitor an idea of the vastness of the solar system and the size of the planets. One metre on the trail, for example, corresponds to two million kilometres in space. In the models of the planets, a diameter of 1000 kilometres has been converted to one centimetre. Information panels provide the observer with important information about the planets: as well as their diameter, the time it takes them to orbit the Sun, their temperature, and their distance from the Sun and the Earth are depicted in a clear and easily understandable way.
