Is the starting point accessible by public transport?
Start : Yes, the start of the route in Butgenbach can be reached by bus directly from Eupen station on the E23 express bus line.
Back to the starting point: To get back to the start in Butgenbach, follow the signs from Trois-Frontières to the "Gemmenich Frontière" stop (1.5 km). Then take bus line 396 to Eupen.

Are dogs allowed?
Partially. Dogs are allowed on virtually the entire route, except on stage 3 (Eupen → Signal de Botrange) in the section between the Pont Marie-Anne Libert and the Trois-Bornes. An alternative itinerary to avoid this section of the nature reserve is signposted.

Stage 1 : Butgenbach Robertville
Start your adventure gently. From Butgenbach, the Venntrilogie leads you through meadows to end at the shores of the Robertville Lake. Here you can see the Warche in all its aspects, as you follow the current and then hike along the banks of the Robertville Lake.

Stage 2 : Robertville Malmedy
From the Robertville Dam, plunge into the Warche Valley and gaze upon the famous Reinhardstein Castle. Enjoy breathtaking views of this romantic valley as you travel along its rocky slopes, gradually descending towards the charming town of Malmedy.

Stage 3 : Malmedy Botrange
It’s time for the ascent from Malmedy to Botrange, the highest point in Belgium. Follow the torrents of the Fens and pass the many trees, rocks and spots that served as landmarks for locals and shepherds. On your way, you’ll see the sightseeing classics Cascade du Bayehon and Trôs-Marets.

Stage 4 : Botrange Eupen
The longest stage of your adventure will make you hike from the highest point of Belgium to Eupen. The itinerary will show you the entire diversity of the High Fens, from the idyllic views in the Hill Valley to the vast arid landscapes of the Walloon Fens.

Stage 5 : Eupen Eynatten
On this stage of the Venntrilogie, you can discover the landscapes of the North of East Belgium and get ready for what's to come... In just under 19 kilometres, walk between villages, across fields and through the Herzogenwald to reach the village of Eynatten.

Stage 6 : Eynatten Three-border point
Between graceful forests and picturesque hedgerows, meadows and orchards, discover the green hills in the North of East Belgium. On your walk you will come across numerous stiles, allowing you to move from one meadow to another. They link the hidden paths that will guide you to the final destination of your adventure, the Border Triangle.

They’re situated at the main junctions and provide all the information you need. You'll also find more signs to guide you as you move along the trail.
